Times of testing
Brings a blessing
That might come with a disguise.
It's arrival
As a trial
Can't be viewed with carnal eyes.
Look for meaning
In the weaning
And the pruning that takes place.
There'll be laughter
Soon thereafter
Cause you'll see your Savior's face.
He'll be smiling
And beguiling
You to lean upon His breast.
Then the testing
And the blessing
Will confirm that God knows best. :)
In order to give the members of our youth group more opportunity to spend time together, I have invited families from our church to host a youth potluck after church each week. The first week of each month we have a potluck lunch at the church. The second week of even-numbered months I plan to visit other churches, starting with Frostproof on June 13. This is the schedule so far:
(This message is based on I Corinthians 12:4–28.)
The Holy Spirit gives each of us different gifts so we can serve Jesus. What are some of these gifts? Verses 4–11
I don’t trust churches. Can I serve God without becoming part of a church?
Through Jesus we all become part of one body. Verses 12–14
How can it be important for me to be part of the church when I don’t have an important position in it?
God gives each of us an important part. Verses 14–19
Shouldn’t my relationship with Jesus be everything I need?
Some people teach that our place in heaven is secured by completing a check-list or by following a series of steps. The Bible teaches that everything required for our salvation has already been done for us. It’s ours if we choose it. How is this choice presented to us?
If God has planned the perfect ending to pain and injustice, why haven’t we reached the end yet?
Our youth meetings have begun! Last night Petronella shared personal experiences that taught her why we should not give up on God when He lets bad things happen to us. Tonight our topic was why our efforts to do good fail, and how God helps us. We had a small group of people who participated in the small group discussion period both nights.
Darren is smoking a cigarette. Brian walks in.
Evan is alone at home. It’s early afternoon. There’s a knock at the door. Evan opens the door and sees Cory.
Are heaven and hell just places to spend eternity? Does God plan to torture people for ever? Is it possible that anyone would freely choose hell?
What would be required to end suffering and injustice in our world? Can any of us accomplish it? Can we even stop making the problem worse?
Is God willing to let pain and injustice continue for ever? If I am a contributor to the pain and injustice in the world, would ending it be good or bad for me?
I'm going to put the plans for each program of our evangelistic meetings on this page. This draft is not complete, but I wanted to provide something for you to leave comments on.
The conference printed up some invitation cards for us to use. They sent them by Greyhound bus Friday night. We need to give these to everyone we meet in Lakeland between the ages of 14 and 30. I'll be camping with some of our young people this week, so just look in the youth room under the table with the Bible studies for the invitation cards. They say "Connect" and give the time and location of our meetings
I have added an order of service. For each topic, I have noted which parts of the service are covered so far. Please add a comment if you can help.
Hi All ,
It's almost here!! Our big night:-)
Everyone please be at the Church School Friday evening by 5pm . If you can get there earlier let me know please. We have a lot of setting up to get done before Sabbath for the Pasta Dinner. It has to be ready to roll right after Sabbath(this Sabbath).
It's time for an update on our preparation for the Youth Ignited evangelistic series starting April 11. Of course, the only way to really know what's going on is to be an active participant, so I first want to thank our young people and sponsors who have come for our Friday night youth meetings and Saturday night preparation meetings. I especially want to thank those young people and their parents who have turned in applications to be members of the Youth Ignited team and share in the responsibility of preaching the gospel to young people in Lakeland.
I'm beginning a record of the preparations for our next Youth Ignited evangelistic series, starting April 11 and continuing every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night at 7 PM until May 16. If you are a member of the Youth Ignited team, you can also add entries to the record by logging in and creating a blog post with the tag "Youth Ignited".
