Sleepwalking Christians: Part One

Romans 13:11–14

You will find several places in the New Testament where Paul describes Christians as collectively or individually being asleep. What does this mean? It certainly doesn’t mean we are all slumbering and getting plenty of rest, and it doesn’t mean we have all passed away.

I draw much of this sermon from the parable Jesus told of the 10 virgins. Jesus tells us that all of the kingdom of God, the Christian church, will be sleeping before the coming of the Bridegroom. This sermon is in two parts. This part focuses on sleep, and the next part will focus on when they “awoke and trimmed their wicks.”
