Evangelism Programs

I'm going to put the plans for each program of our evangelistic meetings on this page. This draft is not complete, but I wanted to provide something for you to leave comments on.

The conference printed up some invitation cards for us to use. They sent them by Greyhound bus Friday night. We need to give these to everyone we meet in Lakeland between the ages of 14 and 30. I'll be camping with some of our young people this week, so just look in the youth room under the table with the Bible studies for the invitation cards. They say "Connect" and give the time and location of our meetings

I have added an order of service. For each topic, I have noted which parts of the service are covered so far. Please add a comment if you can help.

Order of Service

  • Worship
  • We have a music team led by Jasmine Abram with assistance from Angel Rosa. They will lead a 15-minute program at the beginning of each meeting.

  • Presentation
  • 15-20 minute introduction of the night's topic. This can include a sermon, a video, or an interview.

  • Small group discussion
  • 15-20 minutes to get to know each other, study the Bible, and share thoughts on the topic. This is the heart of the program. We will try to divide people into groups of four to six and assign two faciliators to each group. The facilitators will work with the same people each meeting. Instead of response cards, we will rely on the facilitators to get to know each person in their group and make a personal appeal.

For the younger groups, we will need activity sheets.

At the end of the discussion period, we will have a special music to bring everyone back together.

  • Appeal
  • The appeal will relate the topic to practical choices. We will use a drama to help people relate emotionally to the choice they must make. Rather than urging people to make the choice we want them to make, the appeal will present all the choices and their consequences.

The dramas need to meet three conditions:

    1. Illustrate how the message affects choices a young person in Lakeland might face.
    2. Help the audience identify strongly with the feelings on which choices are based.
    3. Leave the audience wanting to make the right choice.
  • Social time
  • Friday and Saturday nights only. Friday night we will have a smoothie bar, and Saturday night we will have games.

We would also like to have a prayer room open throughout the meetings. Petronella will help in setting it up.

Special Music

March 29, 2009 - 10:13am
Anonymous

The special music will be an instrumental piece that will bring the group back together. If you haven't already done this, consider personally inviting and distributing the card invitations to local church youth groups. Starting with the SDA churches: Ewing memorial, Plant City, and Winter Haven. Also putting an ad in the Lakeland Ledger. James Abram
